Birchwood Inn Quilter's Retreat
October 24-27, 2019
Same place, new host, familiar face. Jan VanderMolen will be hosting the annual fall retreat at Birchwood Inn this year, bringing a new twist to a favorite stitching event. Jan is a self taught quilter who loves trying out new techniques to see what works well for a specific project. She would also like to know what works well for you. So on Thursday evening, at the 8:00 pm welcome reception, participants are asked to share some of their favorite (and not so favorite) quilting tools. As Jan puts it, "Whether they were meant for quilting or designed for something totally different, it is fun to hear what has worked and has not worked for each individual quilter. And it's fun to hear about the products we purchased at a quilt shop or quilt show and forgot how it was supposed to be so wonderful and useful."
Keeping it light and fun, there will be two 'Make it and Take it' workshops this year. Jan is providing all of the materials for each project so just bring all of your standard sewing gear and any other stitching project you are working on. Each workshop will take the morning session, leaving afternoons free for your own sewing, shopping, and socializing pleasure.
On Friday evening there will be a pizza dinner at the Inn at 6:30 pm, this is included with the 3 night package and is available for $13 with the 2 night package. Following dinner there will be a 'Show & Tell' of your latest quilting accomplishment, along with more wine. Optional massage will be available Saturday afternoon and Saturday's dinner is at the New York Restaurant in downtown Harbor Springs. Followed by another 'Show & Tell' of what worked and what didn't during the retreat, which will bring us full circle.
Package prices and details are on the registration form, which is in a portable document format and opened by clicking the link below. Please share this web page and registration form with all of your quilting friends. We'd love to see all of your familiar faces and few fresh ones!
